The shooting slump appears to be over for the Celtics star Jayson Tatum when he dropped 51 points last night in a win over the Washington Wizards 116-87.

“When you’re missing shots, you know what you’re capable of, and sometimes you’ve got to laugh it off. It’s as simple as sometimes you just don’t make shots. You play so many games,” said Tatum.

Perhaps, it was the fact that Tatum was against his longtime friend Bradley Beal who he seems to always do good against. Tatum also pulled in 10 rebounds and 7 assists. He made 9 threes and only missed 10 shots from the field out of 28.

The game was still close at the end of halftime with the Celtics only up by one point at 45-46. At that point Tatum already hit the 30 point mark and still didn’t look back. He was able to come back in and finish the game. Although coach Udoka said Tatum reaching 50 points wasn’t in mind when he put him in late in the game, you had to think Tatum was going to go for it.

Nonetheless, the C’s were able to pull away in the 4th and win in a blowout fashion. Tatum was subbed out with over 3 minutes left in the fourth quarter. He received a standing ovation from fans who were in green jerseys despite it being a road game.

Beal put up 19 points being the teams leading scorer as the Wizards drop a game behind at 23-24.

Jaylen Brown racked in a double double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. As far as the rest of the C’s team, the issues standout more as nobody else was able to make a large contribution on the stat sheet.

The Celtics will face the Kings tomorrow night.
