
SACRAMENTO — The Boston Celtics go 2-0 in their west coast trip as they blowout the Kings 126-97. And although defense was always the answer for the C’s late season success—they put on a clinic, offensively.
Out the gate, the Celtics jumped to an 11-0 lead on the Kings. Jaylen Brown was taking defenders off the ball and finishing around the rim. Fast breaks hindered the Kings early on. However, Sacramento found away to get back in the game with three’s. A few times in this matchup the Kings made runs from being down big to getting it back to single digits, however, they just couldn’t take the lead. The Celtics lead once reaching 29 points.
Jayson Tatum and Brown each put on a offensive clinic combining for 62 points. Tatum finished with 32 points and Brown with 30 points. Tatum was hot from deep on 70% shooting from behind the arc, he made seven threes.
As a unit, Celtics made 22 threes on 55% shooting from deep. They won the fast break battle 22 to two. C’s also won the assists, rebounding, and field goal shooting battle. Everyone except one player on the Celtics at least scored a point. The entire bench was emptied out in the fourth quarter. Their bench, collectively, put up 45 points.
As for the Kings, Domantas Sabonis fought the entire game—he finished with 30 points and 20 rebounds. Justin Holiday finished with 21 points, his threes helped the Kings make runs early in the game. Nonetheless, defensively, they didn’t do enough to stop the Celtics perimeter or inside the paint offense.
The Celtics will continue their west coast trip in Denver against the Nuggets tomorrow night. They’re now tied for third place in the eastern conference with Philly. With 11 games left in the regular season, Boston will try to stay healthy and move up the conference.
