The 2025-26 NFL regular season is almost here, and after two games down of preseason matches — New England Patriots fans should be hyped.
No, I’m not saying the Patriots are going to win the Super Bowl, but they damn sure should be in the playoff race in the final weeks. Their two straight wins against the Vikings and Commanders so far has shown that the defense is legit, especially that secondary, they have playmakers on offense and special teams (about time), and Drake Maye is their guy.
As far as Maye goes, he’s shown some bright spots, using his feet and making some good decisions in the small amount of play he’s shown. He’s also shown that he still has areas of improvement with his arm. One thing is for sure, this season shouldn’t be anything like the Pats 4-13 record the previous season.
Throw in the fact that the Pats have one of the easiest schedules in the league, and they can mess around and sneak into the wild card round. TreVeyon Henderson has been showing out this season at running back and as a returner. Him and Rhamondre Stevenson should be one of the best duos in the league with the upgraded o-line.
Now of course these games were against mostly backups and the regular season is a different speed — but all I’m saying is New Englanders have a reason to be amped for football again. We don’t get the same jitters for college football with Boston College or any other school, we don’t have any powerhouse high school like Texas does — we just got the Patriots.
Barring injury, there shouldn’t be any meaningless games this season. Which is something I couldn’t of said last year.
