FRISCO — After a slew of games where the Boston Celtics (30-13) struggled from deep, they hit 20 three-pointers on Martin Luther King Day to blowout the Golden State Warriors (21-21) on the road, final score 125-85.

A 40-point win over a Golden State team that defeated the Celtics back in November wasn’t quite expected. Especially when noting that the C’s were going up against the best shooter in the history of basketball with Steph Curry who finished with 18 points. Draymond Green was out with a calf strain. Nonetheless, the C’s began the game hot with Kristaps Porzingis hitting two straight 3’s which started it all. Porzingis finished the game with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Jayson Tatum led the C’s with 22 points, but having six Celtics players in double digit scoring was the most impressive stat. Jaylen Brown finished with 17 points, Jrue Holiday had 10, Payton Pritchard dropped 14 and Sam Hauser had 11. Sure, ball movement of the Celtics played a big role, but to put it simply: the Celtics were hot from behind the arc.

What this means

The C’s next three games will be on the road against west coast foes. The Clippers are next on Wednesday and Kawhi Leonard is back. Then they have the Lakers before going up against the Dallas Mavericks in a rematch of last years NBA finals. The Celtics still have 12 games until the all-star break.

The most important takeaway from this game is the hot shooting from the Celtics who’ve struggled the last few games. Everybody played and showed out against a possible playoff team. Hopefully this is the start to a winning streak.
