ATLANTA — The Boston Celtics (7-1) ended their three-game road trip with all wins, their latest installment being against the Atlanta Hawks (3-5) in a blowout, 123-93.

The first quarter saw the Celtics and Hawks battling it out, but right after is when the C’s took off. The Boston Celtics had a 40-point second quarter which had them go into halftime leading 75-53. The Hawks had no shot in getting back in the game, and before you know it, the bench players were on the court with eight minutes to go in the game. The Celtics scored 35 points off of fast breaks, Hawks only scored four. The largest lead was once 37 points.

The biggest story is the shut down of Trae Young. The Celtics defense didn’t allow him to get going and ran him off the three-point line by hard close outs with an arm raised. Young finished the game with two points and six assists. It was Jalen Johnson who led the Hawks in scoring with 20 points and 11 boards. It appears that the Hawks aren’t going to be much of a factor in the eastern conference this year, but it’s early.

The C’s came off of back-to-back wins against the Charlotte Hornets and looked to close out their road trip with a third straight win. Jayson Tatum led the game with 28 points. Jaylen Brown was ruled out (left hip flexor strain), his second straight game where he wasn’t suited, but he did get shots up before the game. Derrick White did step up and drop 21 points. Payton Pritchard, furthering his case for Sixth Man of the Year, put up 18 points off th bench. Neemias Queta started the game and the big did well with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Celtics will go back home and play the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
