BOSTON — The C’s may be unstoppable at home, their streak is now at 20 games after blowing out the Spurs Thursday, 117-98.
All the shots seem to just fall whenever the Celtics are at home: whether it’s Tatum’s fallaway shots or even Payton Pritchard getting in on the scoring. Thursday’s win over San Antonio was no different. The C’s shot 47% from deep and 46% from the field. Tatum finished with 24 points, Jrue Holiday had 22 and Jaylen Brown had 21.
The game started with the score being pretty close for most of the first quarter. A C’s explosion of offense began in the second quarter and just like that a single digit lead started to reach 20 points. Celtics led at halftime 70-45. When the third quarter came around, the lead went up to 30 points, however, a Pop-coached team wasn’t going to go out with a fight. The Spurs brough the lead down to 15, but the C’s began hitting their shots once again.
Impressive win
The fact that going into this game it was known the C’s haven’t lost at home yet this season, makes this win more impressive. Derrick White (left ankle sprain) and Kristaps Porzingis (knee inflammation) were out for this game, but Boston still pulled it out.
The 7-foot-4 and rookie Victor Wembanyama still managed to score 27 points. Give him a couple of years, and nobody in the league will be able to stop him. Devin Vassell scored 21 for the Spurs as well.
Biggest home test next game
The 32-9 Celtics will have their biggest test at home Friday when they play the Denver Nuggets who are third in the west but the reigning champs.
