BOSTON — Jayson Tatum finished with 30 points for the Celtics in their blowout win over the Utah Jazz on Friday night, 126-97.
Friday’s win starts a new streak after the Oklahoma Thunder defeated the C’s earlier in the week. Celtics were able to bounce back with an early 10-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game and never looked back. The Jazz found themselves down 20 points in the second quarter and just couldn’t keep up with the Celtics’ offensive firepower.
The win was an all-around group effort for Boston as the bench got a chance to get in the game early and score. Kristaps Porzingis came second in scoring with 19 points, and Jrue Holiday was next with 14.
Perhaps one of the biggest upsides for the C’s was their defense in keeping the Jazz under 100 points. Utah shot a low 17.5% from deep and 36% from the field. It was the length of the C’s that caused issues and put up eight blocks.
C’s will have back-to-back games in Indiana to go up against the Pacers. Although to some it might be looked at as regular season games, but when dating back to the in-season tournament and how the C’s were eliminated by them, it’ll be interesting to see how much effort they’ll put into each game. Tyrese Haliburton has shown this entire season to be a all-star type of player, it’s time for Jaylen Brown to show up.
