Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 36 points to lead his Oklahoma Thunder to defeat the Boston Celtics Tuesday night, 127-123.
The Celtics were on a six-game win streak going into the away game, and it appeared that OKC knew that going into this game. The Thunder were swinging in every quarter and played with high energy. The Celtics found themselves down early in the game and was battling from behind for most of the game. The third quarter is when OKC kicked it into high gear scoring 40 points to the C’s 25.
However, the Celtics fought back and Kristaps Prozingis’ 34 points was something to see. He was hitting big time shots when it counted late in the game and also nabbed 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double. Jayson Tatum was right behind him with 30 points. But the late game effort wasn’t enough.
Shai was just laser-focused throghout the entire game. From turnaround shots, fast breaks, all the way to 3’s, it was clear that he wanted this win.
Looking ahead
The C’s will go back home to face the Utah Jazz on Friday and are now 26-7. The C’s attempted to turn it on at the end of the game, and it did manage to get them into a one possession game. However, if they want to remain at the top of the eastern standings, winning games on the road will be majorly important. The Milwaukee Bucks are storming right behind the C’s and are in striking distance. Utah should be a winnable game, and the C’s are healthy, things should go smoothly at home.
