Nobody expected a Bill Belichick led team to be 2-8 during the regular season, it’s almost like a shock throughout the football world, and because of that, there’s murmurs on his exit after this season.
Truthfully, I don’t think that’s the best decision for anyone.
Yes, since the Tom Brady and Bill era, it appears that Brady has played the bigger part on the dynasty that has been brought to New England. However, we can’t forget that Bill still brought the Patriots to the playoffs after Tom’s departure. Nobody can deny the great coaching skill that Belichick possesses. Here’s why Bill should stay a Patriot head coach.
The original coaching staff can return back together
After Josh McDaniel gotten fired from the Raiders, his job back in New England is almost promised. McDaniels knows how to manage a quarterback and his skills on navigating an offense. If McDaniels can come back as a quarterbacks coach, with Matt Patricia on defense, Bill as the head coach, and Bill O’Brien as the OC, the Pats would be a whole lot better than they were. We can’t forget that Mac Jones has had a plethora of different coordinators to work with since entering the league. Last season he didn’t even have any true offensive coaches to work with. With a solid group of coaches, only thing left would be having a great roster, which leads to the other point.
He’s best as just a head coach
It’s tough not to give the keys to the guy who’s won six Super Bowls, and that’s exactly what Robert Kraft has done. However, when the Pats passed up on DeAndre Hopkins, picked up guys beyond their prime for their offense, and hasn’t put any money into the scoring team, that’s when things went downhill. Belichick isn’t a good general manager. If Kraft gets a real GM who knows the game and knows how to get the right pieces, then the Pats will be just fine.
He’ll always be beloved in New England
When the Jimmy G and Tom Brady debacle happened, it caused a riff for the next couple of years. It led to Brady heading to Tampa and winning a seventh championship. So part of the blame should definitely go to Bill Belichick. However, nobody can doubt if Bill will bring the Pats to the promise land again if given the right tools. Which is why him being just the head coach is needed.
